- Paul J. Ferri
Paul Ferri, a venture capitalist for more than 30 years, was the founding partner of Matrix Partners in 1982. Prior to Matrix, he founded Hellman Ferri Investment Associates (1977 to 1982) and was a general partner of WestVen Management (1970 to 1978).
The family of Matrix Partnerships has achieved industry record-setting returns over the last decade. In 2003, Ferri was inducted into the Private Equity Hall of Fame, citing his work "in founding and helping to build Matrix Partners into one of the most successful venture firms in the industry." In February 2001, Forbes magazine selected Ferri as one of the Top 20 Venture Investors of all time and the “Best VC in Boston.” Also, in 2001, Ferri received the Massachusetts Telecommunications Council Award for “Venture Capitalist of the Year.”
Paul serves or previously served on the Boards of Directors of Airvana, Applix, ArrowPoint Communications, Ascend Communications, Atria Software, Aylus Networks, Banctec, Bytex, Cascade Communications, Codex Corporation, Empirix, Paradyne, Redstone Communications, Sonus Networks, Stratus Computer, Sycamore Networks, veveo.tv, VideoServer, Winphoria Networks, Xyplex and numerous other private companies. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia University, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from Polytechnic Institute of New York, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from Cornell University.
- Edward T. Anderson
Ed Anderson has been the firm's Managing Partner since inception. Prior to starting North Bridge, Ed was a partner with ABS Ventures, the venture capital affiliate of Alex. Brown & Sons, for a period of 10 years. Before entering the venture business he was a strategic planning consultant with The Michael Allen Company and was also employed by Phelps Dodge Industries, Inc. where he held numerous sales, marketing, and general management positions, both domestically and overseas.
Ed's venture investing is targeted at communications and related software markets. Actively working with start-up teams is his primary area of interest. Ed is a graduate of the University of Denver, 1971, and Columbia University's Graduate School of Business Administration, 1977.

Managing Partner
Promod has 17 years of experience in the venture capital industry and currently serves as managing partner at Norwest Venture Partners. He joined Norwest Venture Partners in 1990. He has been ranked as a top dealmaker on the annual Forbes Midas List for the past five years, and in 2004, Forbes named him as the #1 venture capitalist based on performance over the last decade. In 2006, Promod was presented with a Global Leadership award from NASSCOM. Promod focuses on investments in semiconductor and components, systems, software and services. He was an early investor and a board member of Cerent (acquired by Cisco), Siara Systems (acquired by Redback Networks), OnDisplay (acquired by Vignette), Winphoria Networks (acquired by Motorola) and Extreme Networks (Nasdaq: EXTR).
His current investments include Adventity, AmberPoint, Cast Iron Systems, FireEye, Open-Silicon, Persistent Systems, Sonoa Systems, Sulekha, Veraz Networks (Nasdaq: VRAZ), Veveo, Virtela Communications, Yatra Online and Yipes. Other notable investments and previous board seats include Tivoli Systems (acquired by IBM), Forte Software (acquired by Sun Microsystems), Kiva Software (acquired by Netscape), Information Advantage (acquired by Sterling Software), Arbortext (acquired by PTC), Resonext Communications (acquired by RF Micro Devices), Showcase (acquired by SPSS) and ZettaCom (acquired by IDT).
Prior to Norwest Venture Partners, Promod spent 18 years in various operational roles ranging from product development, marketing, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer at various public and private companies - Siemens International, Thorn EMI, Emergent Technologies and Dimensional Medicine, Inc.
He received a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the University of Delhi, India. He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Northwestern University and an MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg Graduate School of Management, where he serves on the advisory board.
- Murali Aravamudan, Founder and CEO
Murali Aravamudan is a pioneer and experienced leader in the fields of data networking, telephony, multimedia and broadband technologies. His vast experience in these fields has fostered a culture of innovation at Veveo, Inc. which promises to help define the next generation of the web. In 2003, Mr. Aravamudan spearheaded the successful acquisition of his company Winphoria Networks by Motorola.
Mr.Aravamudan founded Winphoria Networks in March of 2000, helping to create the groundbreaking Mobile Wireless SoftSwitch and Instant Communications applications for CDMA and GSM networks. When Winphoria was acquired by Motorola in May, 2003, Mr. Aravamudan served as the vice president and general manager of the Winphoria Division of Motorola’s Global Telecom Solutions Sector.
Prior to founding Winphoria, Mr. Aravamudan served as vice president and chief technology officer of the Communications Software Business at Lucent Technologies and as a department head of Communications Software Research at Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill. In addition, Mr. Aravamudan founded and served as president of Isochrone Inc., an internet multimedia software company. He was also the principal architect of AT&T’s Internet Enhanced Technology Services.
Mr. Aravamudan has authored 31 US patents, with an additional 25 patent applications pending in data networking, telephony, database, and multimedia technologies.
